Special Report: Critica has bolstered the low-cost processing pathway for its Jupiter rare earths project in WA after hydrometallurgical optimisation work confirming the potential to reduce sulphuric acid consumption by about 30%.

Independent testwork by the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, GAVAQ and Australian Minmet Metallurgical Laboratories found that optimised operating conditions could achieve sulphuric acid consumption of about one tonne per tonne of feed.

This outcome marks a significant improvement from a previous reference range of about 1.4 to 1.6 tonnes of acid per tonne of feed.
